IIT Kharagpur Celebrating its
Glorious 75 Years
IIT Kharagpur will be completing its glorious 75 years in the year 2026. To mark this occasion the Institute has planned for yearlong celebration beginning 18th August 2025 (the foundation day of the Institute). Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is the first and the largest IITs in this IIT system hence it will be the Platinum Jubilee celebrate of entire IIT system as well.
IIT Kharagpur is known worldwide for its excellent multidisciplinary academics and research publication. The Institute aspires to reach the top 10 universities of the world in succeeding years in seven niche areas comprising of Advanced Manufacturing Systems for Industry 4.0, Safety Engineering & Analytics, Quality and Reliability, Healthcare, Precision Agriculture & Food Nutrition, Smart Infrastructure, Cyber physical System and Advanced Transportation. In order to achieve the excellence IIT Kharagpur has planned for development of several new infrastructure and academic progress. A special fund revenue drive under the ambit of the platinum jubilee celebration has been planned to built the corpus for all such development. Alumni are requested to generously contribute for the cause and help the Institute to reach the targeted fundraising milestone which will also commemorate the occasion of 75 years of glorious activities to the nation.
Donations can be made to raise funds for the infrastructure development to mark the platinum jubilee celebration. Individual donors can directly pay through the Institute website or they can pay their chapters who can raise fund for a particular cause. Donations for non-targeted cause will be treated as general endowment and they will be administered by an endowment Committee.

With the increased intake of students and the addition of new Academic Areas, there is an additional demand for Infrastructural expansion such as Laboratories, Convention Centers, Auditoriums, Student halls of residence, Activity Centers, etc. The Institute is also planning to modernize its existing facilities.
